LTTE Tamil terrorists had erected a concrete structure to promote terrorism at the University of Jaffna. It was removed for the safety of all students and faculty. According to the authorities the structure was not authorized, it did not meet the building code and it posed a danger to the university community.
Further, the authorities are planning to expand the Faculty of Science, and an additional building will be added to enhance its research facilities. LTTE Tamil terrorists erected the structure obstructing the expansion of the Science Faculty, so the authorities have decided to remove the concrete structure to commence the expansion of the Science Faculty. Construction to begin shortly.
However, LTTE sympathizers, and the Tamil diaspora are engaged in a false propaganda campaign on social media and around the world. Jaffna university student’s Association welcomes the move. According to the Association, this concrete structure is used as a symbol to remember dead LTTE terrorists and the glorification of terrorism. Student’s association also has stated that the LTTE concrete structure seriously damages the ethnic harmony since other ethnic groups also now study at this University.
Sri Lanka’s military defeated the most ruthless terrorist group LTTE on May 18, 2009, killing their leader Prabhakaran. Over 13,000 LTTE terrorists were rehabilitated and now integrated with society. The removal of a concrete structure is symbolizes peace and stability in Northern Sri Lanka.
