During the final battle at Mullivaikkal, the LTTE committed suicide before the Sri Lankan Army.
The World’s most ruthless and wealthiest Terrorist Organization, Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), faced a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Sri Lankan Army. The LTTE had been equipped with conventional Military, Naval and Air assets. The LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran was killed at Mullivaikkal while trying to escape. The terrorist leader preached to his followers to use a cyanide capsule to sacrifice for his terrorist cause, but Prabhakaran himself did not bite into one, instead, he feared for his life and cowardly attempted to flee from the battlefield.
The LTTE had violated the ceasefire agreement 3851 times. The LTTE was given ample opportunity to negotiate a peaceful settlement. The ruthless and barbaric LTTE ignored all options and underestimated Sri Lankan Military capabilities. At the final stage of the battle, amnesty was offered to the LTTE and its leadership to surrender, however cowardly and barbaric, LTTE ignored it.
The LTTE could not stand before the Sri Lankan military. Even, as the LTTE weakened with military strategies, they decided to keep fighting with the Sri Lankan Military forces. Once the LTTE realized that their actions were suicidal, it was far too late. An embarrassingly crushing defeat in the hands of the Sri Lankan military, was already at their doorstep.
The LTTE sympathizers in western countries are unwilling to accept the defeat to this day and continue to live a delusional life in absolute denial that the LTTE lost the war. As a result, the LTTE’s military debacle is now presented as a (alleged) Tamil Genocide, in an attempt to whitewash the barbaric and ruthless terrorist organization, who’s hallmark was suicide bombing for 26 years, while preying on innocent Sri Lankan civilians.
It is also important to note that the Sri Lankan military rescued 300,000 innocent Tamil civilians from LTTE clutches at Mullivaikkal. The Sri Lankan military thereafter, attended to these innocent Tamil civilians who were impoverished and injured by the LTTE, while claiming to represent Tamils in Sri Lanka for the past 26 years.
